Talking turkey, and food safety: Learn tips for safe food handling, and remember to cook turkey to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Traveling: Give yourself the GIFT of secured, free parking if you are leaving your car on campus. LAX airport shuttles are available (limited space availability, reservations are required) from the UPC campus, courtesy of the USC Dept. of Public Safety and USC Transportation.

Packing before you go: Pick up a COVID-19 test from the CSC desks in USC Housing, the front desk of the Engemann or Eric Cohen Health Centers or the USC Bookstores—just in case. Test before and after travel. This is especially important if getting together with older household members or visitors; they may be more vulnerable to serious illness if they get sick.

Meeting up with friends or relatives this Thanksgiving: Get vaccinated for flu and COVID-19 if you have not yet done so. Influenza cases are already appearing on campus and in the community.

Be present in the moment, whether you are seeing lots of people, enjoying a quiet extended weekend, or having a busy traveling holiday. Thanksgiving can be a good opportunity to slow down and give space to acknowledge positive things in your life. Trying a gratitude practice, journaling, expressing thanks to a friend, making a gratitude list, or using a mindful guided meditation can help de-stress and increase well-being.
