USC Student Health, Communications and Marketing is seeking Well-being and Health Outreach Ambassadors (WHOA’s) to manage in-person activations promoting 1) awareness of services and 2) awareness of preventive health through education, screening programs, other activities. The WHOA team’s primary objective is to increase student knowledge of options for maintaining or improving their health; this objective is organized around activities with other students.
 
What do they do?
Plan and staff activities for students, coordinating with interested student organization partners, and run the “health corner” at the outdoor Farmer’s Market (fall and spring), assist with student mental well-being outreach activities, organize focus groups and feedback sessions for continually improving outreach programs. Other marketing, outreach, and communication tasks as assigned.

Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates have an outgoing personal manner, high attention to detail, and enjoy connecting to students from all walks of life, backgrounds, social and academic interests, cultures, gender identities, and sexual orientations with a friendly and supportive attitude. Must have high comfort level with sharing information on topics common to college-aged people, including (but not limited to): sex and relationships, alcohol and other drugs, mental health and college stress, culture and identity, interpersonal violence prevention.

Who is eligible?

  • USC undergraduate or graduate students, any major
  • Must be a student in good standing and not on Academic, Progress, or Disciplinary Probation

What’s required?

  • 8-12 hours per week from Sept-November; February-April, (mixed virtual and in-person)
  • Training/planning sessions begin in August, 4-hours weekly commitment (virtual)
  • Virtual assignments (checking email or dashboard assignments) should be responded to within 24 hours, or at regular times established by the team leader
  • Must commit to working a full academic year (fall and spring)
  • Staffing presence at weekly “Health Corner” at campus Farmer’s Market (rotating with other team members); staffing mental health and wellbeing outreach activities as needed; planning, coordination and staffing of activities including “Sex Week,” Great American Smokeout, wellness dog activities, and other outreaches as assigned.
