USC Student Health, Communications and Marketing is seeking a graduate student to join the communications team as the Public Engagement Team Leader. This unique internship opportunity is perfect for someone with superb project management skills, experience managing groups of students or volunteers, and an interest in student health and well-being. The team leader role will report to the Associate Director of Public Communications for USC Student Health.

The Public Engagement Team Leader will plan and staff activities for students, coordinate with interested student organization partners, run the “health corner” at the outdoor Farmer’s Market (fall and spring), assist with student mental well-being outreach activities, and organize feedback sessions for continually improving outreach programs. Other marketing, outreach, and communication tasks as assigned.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • USC graduate students; preference given to those in relevant programs such as USC Rossier PASA
  • Must be a student in good standing and not on Academic, Progress, or Disciplinary Probation
  • Availability to work 10-15 hours per week, mixed virtual and in-person

What will this person be doing?

  • Conducting weekly meetings with the Well-being and Health Outreach Ambassador Cohort (WHOA Cohort) and reporting key takeaways back to the Associate Director.
  • Coordinating the Farmer’s Market schedule, WHOA work shifts, partnerships, and more.
  • Overseeing the coordination of, and student government/RSO partners for, the annual USC Sex Week in October 2023; includes vendor outreach, shift scheduling, and more.
  • Assigning student health projects to interested WHOA Cohort members.
  • Overseeing overlapping WHOA projects to ensure progress/on-time completion and sharing weekly progress reports with the Associate Director.
  • Tracking the WHOAs’ weekly work schedules and logged time.
  • Conduct interviews and onboarding of new WHOAs as needed.
  • Assisting the communications team as needed with special projects as needed.Preference will be given to candidates with experience managing volunteers, leading group projects, and/or management experience and relevant coursework/volunteer experience.
