Student Worker, Graduate Research Assistant

Location: Hybrid; UPC Student Health Center (1031 W. 34th St) and Zoom 

Weekly Hours: 8-10 hours

Available Positions: 1
Hourly Rate: $20.00/hour

Minimum commitment: 3 semesters (fall 2025 – summer/fall 2026)

The USC Student Health, Office Health Promotion Strategy (OHPS) provides  backbone support to the USC Well-being Collective. OHPS is seeking a graduate student to fill a student-employee position to assist with collaborative community engagement and qualitative data analysis. Each semester, OHPS collects qualitative data on student well-being in various forms, including open-ended survey questions, systems thinking activities, key informant interviews, and focus groups. Previous topics have included financial stress, mental health, and sense of belonging, among others. 

Position Summary:

The Graduate Research Assistant will work with OHPS staff to conduct qualitative research, code and analyze data, and develop comprehensive final reports. These reports will be shared with USC’s administrative leadership to inform policies and practices on student well-being. 

Key Responsibilities:

    •    Conducting literature reviews with relevant topics via resources available in the USC Libraries database.

    •    Conducting various qualitative research activities, including but not limited to open-ended survey questions, systems thinking activities, key informant interviews, and focus groupskends as needed.

    •    Coding and analysis of data

    •    Creation of comprehensive final reports

    •    Supporting OHPS staff with other community engagement and capacity-building activities

Qualifications:

    •    Strong analytical and writing skills

    •  Familiarity with literature reviews 

    •  Ability to manage responsibilities and communicate effectively in a professional setting

    •  Strong demonstration of cultural humility

Preferred Skills, but not required:

    •    Experience conducting literature reviews.

    •    Qualitative research experiencef a team in a fast-paced environment.

    •    Ability to organize various data and summarize information
