Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine
Ronald P. Olson, MD is board certified in family medicine, serves as clinical associate professor in the Keck School of Medicine, and is a clinical educator for its physician assistant program.
He earned his MD from the University of Calgary and has extensive expertise in sports medicine and point of care ultrasound. Prior to USC, Olson served as medical director for pre-op screening at Duke University Medical Center, and as a physician and faculty member of Duke University Medical School.
Dr. Olson has worked in student health at three universities for over 35 years. During that time, he has looked after many athletes — weekend warriors, club sports, varsity, and elite international. He leads medical teams to the World University Games in many nations, next one in China. He volunteers with the US Ski Team, US Olympic, and Paralympic Committee, and teaches sports medicine in Uganda. He utilizes and teaches Point of Care Ultrasound.
Dr. Olson is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American Medical Society, and the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
Furthermore, he enjoys learning the different backgrounds, experiences and interests of USC students.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, skiing, and canoeing.
