Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Anne Maddocks Michels, MD joined USC Student Health as a full-time gynecologist in the fall of 2018. Michels, a New York native, has practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 23 years. She graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2000 and completed her residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2004.
After moving to California in 2004, Michels joined the OB-GYN department at Kaiser Permanente in Baldwin Park. Three years later, Michels was promoted to partner physician, a position she held from 2007 to 2018. At Kaiser, she held several quality management roles, overseeing the peer-review process for the OB-GYN department and leading quality and safety projects.
At USC, Dr. Michels enjoys caring for students, and providing the current medical standard of care. She is a member of the Quality Committee at USC Student Health. Michels provides reproductive education and family planning options. She also loves inpatient obstetric and gynecological care and continues this at LAC+ USC part-time.
In her free time, she enjoys running, walking her dog, and spending time with her family. Dr. Michels is happy to be part of the Trojan family. Fight on!
Dr. Michels is an avid skier and has a dog and two cats. Her favorite food is sushi.
She would tell the students:” I really enjoy working with students and learning about their majors, their ups and downs, and their interests. I also love to teach them about both medical care and reproductive anatomy.”
