University of Southern California
Eric Cohen Health Center

Health Insurance

USC requires that ALL students have supplemental health insurance. This will help to cover the cost of care that cannot be obtained on campus, especially in emergency situations where hospitalization may be required. The Student Health Insurance Plan works in conjunction with the Health Center Eric Cohen Health Center located on the Health Sciences Campus. For this reason, all students enrolled in the USC Student Health Insurance Plan are also required to pay the health fee.

You are automatically enrolled in the USC Health Insurance Plan if you are:

If you already have a health insurance plan (or you are on your parents' plan) you may be eligible to waive enrollment in the USC Health Insurance Plan by providing proof of comparable coverage.

Enrollment may be waived only if documented proof of comparable coverage from another plan is presented to the Student Health Insurance Office and it meets the University’s requirements.

All insurance enrollments or Waivers must be completed during registration week prior to the deadline date, at the Student Health Insurance Office on the campus where the student is enrolled.

A detailed description of the plan is available online and at the Student Health Office:

Health Fee and Eligibility

You may utilize services at the Eric Cohen Student Health Center if you have paid the current semester Student Health Fee.

You are automatically charged the Student Health Fee on your fee bill if you are a student on the Health Science Campus and registered in Fall, Spring or Summer.

You are NOT automatically charged, but may pay the Student Health Fee if you are a continuing student from the Spring Semester and not enrolled in a summer session, but would like to receive summer services. **Summer Only** *

Session 1 and/or 2. (Students will only be billed for, and receive services during, the summer session they are enrolled.)

The Student Health Fee vs USC Student Health Insurance Plan

The health fee is a separate fee from the USC Student Health Insurance Plan. The health fee provides services at the Eric Cohen Student Health Center. It does NOT cover services provided outside the health center. For this reason, the University requires all students to have health insurance. This will help cover the cost of health care that cannot be obtained at the Eric Cohen Student Health Center, especially in an emergency situation where hospitalization may be required.

The Student Health Insurance Plan works in conjunction with the Eric Cohen Health Center (located at 1510 San Pablo #104 Los Angeles, CA 90033) and is designed to complement the services provided.
